I bought a Seben Xtreme detector, at first was not impressed, with in an hour, and some help from a M/D member I was finding things after things,??I've been detecting couple of years, plus I am a voluntary archaeologist with a local society, and bought a few detectors over the years, and loves my Seben,, For £149. 00, what do you want?? You can pay£600 or £700, but then I would expect a big return. . jim

kb in midwest-wisconsin -I have a seben deep target detector and am very happy with it. Sometimes a little tempermental about what set of 9 volt batteries its wants but once up and running seems fine.
It seems to have very good depth of finds and mine paid for itself in the first two outing. I run discriminator on 5 and sensitivity wide open. It takes a little time to identify a coin sound from other noise but once you practice I am sure you will be able to determine good from unwanted metal junk.
The pin pointer works really well if you lift coil for best target alignment. The unit is nice and light and I like the battery case and the out of the way coil wires. Adjustments are easy and it recovers objects very quickly. It pulled numerous coins out of highly mineralized soil that usually stops other detectors in there tracks. Its been pulling relics out as fast as I can dig.

Of course there is the usual trash digs but it comes with the territory. When in doubt dig.
A low price for a improved machine what more could you want?

It is a great Metal detector if you collect bottle tops and crap made from metal. Its poor quality and the instructions would be better wrote in Chinese.
Buy something else.

Seben detector falls apart

My wife bought me a Seben Metal Detector for Christmas. It was not my choice but I decided to make the best of it. The instructions are really poor and the quality of the machine itself is also poor at best. I don't think you can ground balance the thing. It is constantly making all sorts of noise.
When you finally get the thing tuned enough to use it, it somehow gets out of tune by itself. I had only used it a couple of times when the arm brace fell off. Can't put it back on because the small little plastic track it fits on broke. I will admit after some practice I was able to find objects, but mostly trash. I can't return the thing, but I have already ordered a new one of a different brand. My suggestion would be to never, ever buy one of these. Good luck if you do!

Not a good machine at all do not buy
matt in folkestone,kent,england. -Bought machine last year and went to use it first time and guess what, it didn't work. Also prob won't get money back. Not good at all, waste of money.

Seben extreme
20yearsdetecting in england -Recived seben extreme today, took it into garden to ground balance and test, guess what it wouldent. Verry unstable. Got in touch with dealer and they said send it back. Went to post 31 quid to post back to germany. Not a good detector stick with popular makes ??

sharky in plymouth uk -This is my first detector and have to say its not bad for the money the instructions are poor but to be fair this unit is so easy to use that you don't really need them. Ive had a couple of good finds on the beach, worked fine. Good hunting all.

Good beginners tool
stillsinglejd@yahoo.com in Guam, USA -Great detector for beginners, I found myself enjoying every stupid beep that it made... the manual is translated horribly, however, its pretty simple to understand and work the detector. I'm trying to figure out if tuning means volume, sensitivity, or discrimination because i've tried all sorts of combinations and the detector just goes nuts sometimes. Ground balance is horrible, I live on guam, when I tried huntin on the shore all I got was ghost signals from the saltwater! But overall, this detector is ok for a beginner, its my first metal detector and im havin a blast! Hopefully I'll move up to some old spanish forts here on island on my next off day...

Didn't work until simple repair
New user in Australia -
My unit was almost totally useless until it was found that the LED mounting on the circuit board had cracked the track. After a small resolder task it now works and is very sensitive.
