Most helpful review for Fisher F-19Sleeper unit??
Have had my F19 now for a few months, and wow!! I really like this machine. I have had a number of detectors over the past few years, and find this is a keeper. Hits rock solid on good targets (for me, that means round targets, rings, coins and the such)... I am mostly a park jewelry hunter and find this machine gets the job done, very well! Runs nice and quiet, steady and solid... The Target ID, is amazing with this machine, at least mine is... I'm pretty impressed. Like others say, may not be the deepest, but not a slouch either... I'm always amazed at the depth I get with the stock coil. The V-Break makes it even more downright fun! I don't see a whole lot about the F19, not sure why... During research I heard there may have been some issues that some folks were having with the early model, but that you could send in to Fisher and they would rectify... But that the next batches had the fix...
All I know is that I could not be happier with the F19... Love the backlight as well... The ease of use, how balanced it is, the V-Break, the Tones, Disc, etc etc... For my needs... Pretty darn good and it earned itself a place in the stable of units I will not be selling. Just a lot of fun - heck even targets at depth the ID remained pretty solid! Being a jewelry hunter, I don't rely on target ID... But it is fun to have it and dig up things and see how or whether the machine was right or not... More often than not, this one is on the money. Is it perfect? Are any of them? Lol - Suits my needs to a T. One of my favorites, period. Have not tried it on the beach though so can't speak for that aspect.

I have been using my Troy Shadow X5 for several months now and have been impressed with the performance and quality of this machine. It is simply one of the best built metal detectors I have ever owned.
The X5 is deadly on coins and relics. Small, and I mean small gold, copper and lead items can't get away from it. Small brass fish hooks and small lead split shot fishing weights are common finds around lakes and beaches. The pinpointing feature is excellent with the large spider coil that ships stock with the X5.
This detector is as light as they come and a pleasure to swing for extended periods of time. It is also water resistant so you can use it in the rain or spray and not have to worry with covers. The controls are well thought out and easy to use.
The one complaint I do have is the size and throw of the target check toggle switch. It wears on you finger after a few hours if you are not wearing some kind of glove. The shaft of the toggle switch could have been a bit bigger, longer and rounded to make it more comfortable.
It does take a few hours to get used to the X5 but once you begin to have some confidence in the machine it's a snap to tell memorial pennies from wheat pennies with the Target Check Switch.
All in all it's a nice machine. A bit high priced but should last for many years of serious metal detecting.
