I've been out of metal detecting for many years but recently got back into it! So it seems everybody wants the best detector that will do the best job-getting treasure, of course!!
For the hell of it I bought the bounty hunter elite 2200( discovery 2200) from Big 5 and I've got to say this detector does really well. Found lots of clad anywhere from zero to 4 inches maybe 5 inches for sure, which here in Colorado is great, because we have such high mineral content and rocky conditions, and other than gold, 3-4 inch depth isn't too bad and it pinpoints damn close to the target, saves on the digging!
I hit the local schools once in a while and silver is never more than a couple inches! Also have a whites coinmaster pro, with a few more bells and whistles but in my opinion is pretty inferior to the 2200, the coinmaster pro has annoying issues like false hits, its erratic, inconsistent! Anyway, just my two cents, have fun!!

Elite 2200

Purchased my first MT at Big 5 on sale for 139. 00. Exstremily easy to use. We go to the beach often with grand kids They use the MT more than I do and love it. They take turns using the MT and when one finds something the others will dig until they find their treasure.
Then they take turns searching for treasure. I have to fight with them to get my turn. They usually win. We have found many treasures also at local parks. Now I am looking to purchase another Elite 2200 for the kids. And I'm sure I with again be without one.

Elite 2200 - Nice detector
David in Arizona -
I'm new to metal detecting. I was looking for a metal detector that a beginner could use, good enough to find stuff without becoming frustrated, and not too expensive. I did some reviews online and found several models and brands to choose from that met my needs. I also noticed that the Elite 2200 is basically the same as the Discovery 2200. The reason I purchased the Elite 2200 is because it met my needs, and was available at a local Big 5 sporting goods store on sale for $139, plus you get a free Bounty Hunter Junior detector mail in rebate. Most of the other detectors that had my interest were only available online or a 2 hour drive away.
I got it home, ate breakfast, put it together, and read through the manual. After reading the manual, I grabbed some coins, nail, screw, pop tab, and air tested it. All the features worked good. I like how it gives different tones for different items. It's pretty light, and was easy to swing. After air testing it, I started searching my yard. I found 2 pennies, pop tabs, small pieces of scrap metal, and a screw all in about 10 minutes. It seems to go about 6 inches on the smaller stuff and 8 inches on the quarter or bigger pieces. After eating lunch my wife and I took it to a park near the picnic area. I found 2 pennies, a nickle, and some pop tabs in about 20 minutes. Most of the targets were easy to pinpoint and locate. There were a couple targets that I was getting an Iron reading, but could not locate. Overall, I'm satisfied with the Elite 2200. I'm sure it will find me plenty of coins and jewelry the more time I spend using it. I'm going to have tons of fun with it. If you're looking for a low price detector that has some good features and is easy to use, that will actually find treasure, I would recommend it.

I went to my secret spot and this thing works great. Simple and really accurate. Found coins big and small. Bullet shells ect... Nothing escapes the 2200. Seems to go 8-10 inches
I bet I can find more value in gold and silver jewelry with my 150 dollar elite 2200 then others can find in gold nuggets with there 800 dollar gold detectors.

Very pleased

I bought my elite 2200 on Friday and went straight to a local park. I didn't even read the manual! I figured anyone could run a detector, and BH has made this thing super simple to operate. In a matter of 3 days and a total of about 9 hours of use I have found well over 100 coins, an old watch, a silver ring, and maybe 15 pulltabs. This thing will pick out dimes and quarters at 8 inches with no problem. I can't wait to get back out and find more treasure!
