30 yrs exp,
Over all opinion this is a good enough detector that convinced to replace my wife's prizm 5 with a gamma 6000 no bad about the prizm, just a lil more weight and not quite as much depth here in east Texas. Easy to use, good to great depth, no complicated programing lots of coil choices for your fav spots. Good luck detecting!

Gamma 6000
[1] ground balance capabilities in black sand for beach and mineralized soil hunting.
[2] no extensive programs that you need books and options to decipher.
[3] lightweight.
[4] batteries, this unit works on one 9 volt all day and then some.
[5] optional waterproof 'dd' coil, great area coverage.
[6] two headphone jacks for whatever you like to use.
[7] disc. Level and notch disc. Capability.
[8] sensitivity adjustable.
[9] two digit number target identification on screen.
[10] price.
That's why I chose the gamma.
Cons: Not waterproof, I don't like the battery box cover kinda cheep. The pinpoint button and power button are to close together, when using gloves your turning off the unit a lot. Setting the unit to eliminate iron you still get quarter signals on large iron. Unit is no good on small gold, wont pick up a earring post or small round earrings, must be bigger than a small pendent.
Here's the air test, nickel 9" quarter 8" penny 7" dime 7" Kennedy 1/2 8" Eisenhower dollar 8.5"
I have used this detector for about 1 year and like it a lot, I dig most everything and if you don't your missing stuff, This detector picked a 1" iron angle 17" in the ground.

For me, best you can buy at its price range
Now the detector has a superb performance, as the previous reviewer just stated. I personally consider it to be equivalent to the top of line t2 or the omega 8000. Personally I see no reason in investing more money in a machine that will give me the same results, just for the name or model that is stamped on the unit. The gamma 6000 is lightweight, it's gorgeous with its large LCD screen. It is just the detector everyone wants but few have. Don't pass on this detector, don't be fooled by higher end models that offer the same but cost more than twice. . .
