Cheap, but good.

I bought it for 40$ in Amazon + the shipping. A very easy to use detector,
turn on and go. I managed to find 60+$ in coins. A 1853 gold coin and a
silver coin from 1924. I will really recommend it for begginers.

I bought the VLF 2.1 for a whopping $25 online and I think it was money
well spent. The VLF is not a deep detector, it reads a max of 5" on coins.
It has two controls, sensitivity and discrimination. After reading the
directions I set the sensitivity to 3/4 max and the discrimination to
detect nickels and above. The VLF 2.1 has proven itself as a decent tot lot
detector and it has quickly paid for itself in those playgrounds.
Since it is not a deep machine, it is well suited for the sand and bark playgrounds where my wife and I coin shoot and my other detector would be overkill. It has also found cheap rings and small jewelry. It is kind of cheaply made but seems to be holding up well enough. It has a one year warrantee and I have not needed to use it. This detector is worth a look if you want to detect in tot lots or want a in trunk spare unit for anytime use.
