Good starter when its on sale

If you can find it for 100 bucks or less pick it up. I started with one
learned a lot from it and after a while realized I needed to upgraded.
Don't be fooled by the waterproof coil. This is not a wet beach machine but
if you are searching towel line you can dig stuff up all day long.
Even with auto ground balance and sensitivity way down you will not be able to dig wet salty sand at the beach. Muddy creek sand you'll be fine just don't drop it because only the coil is water proof.
Check for sales and deals. I got mine for 50 bucks and it was totally worth it. Great for beginners looking to find out if metal detecting is something they really want to invest time and money in but do not spend 300 or 400 bucks on this! There are machines that are leaps and bounds above this in that price range or 100 to 200 bucks higher.

I bought this as an "extra" detector as I have 2 very expensive minelabs
and a whites. It reminds me of the one I replaced (pioneer 505 which I gave
to my Aunt who loves it) The features on this 9000 are very simple and it
has features my more expensive units do not, like showing what coin and the
depth. I have not used the 9000 very much but I sure get a lot of coins and
the discrimination is amazing. I recommend this unit to anyone that wants a
good budget machine that performs well. Good luck in your searching.
It's kinda embarrassing this machine does things my very expensive "Australian machine" won't do! I pretty much just use the setting that come on when you turn the unit on. My pro model came with 2 coils. It even detects the little bottles of gold leaf you can buy but up really close to the coil. I would not depend on it in the gold fields but who knows. Of course, you would not want it in coin mode but in no discrimination mode.
