Good Solid Machine
April 03, 2006
This is a very good machine for the price. Good depth and penetration in
all sorts of soils. The manual ground balance is a breeze to use and
adjust. It does, however, take some hours to be comfortable to use as it
is definitely not a 'set and forget' machine. I actually enjoy the tuning
and driving of the Scorpion. The small 3 x 7" elliptical coil is very
sensitive and I found this easier to use and balance as a beginner before
using the 5 x 10" coil. Overall, I recommend the Scorpion to beginners, a
little patience and you will be very happy with this machine.

Missled
March 20, 2006
I was missled while purchasing this detector .I am a begining prospector
and I wanted a machine that would help me pinpoint areas to prospect.First
of all the machine is by no means for a beginner, the instructions are very
confusing,ground balance...hah..what a joke.I cant do it for nothing.So
here I sit with a piece of equipment that does not do me any good.Is there
such a machine that is sensitive enough to find gold but easy to use yet
inexpensive.surely there must be.Dont make the same mistake I did.Talk to a
dealer in person and get to know the product before purchasing it.I do not
recommend on line purchase for a beginner.

Scorpion Gold Stinger
November 26, 2005
I use the Stinger for prospecting here in N.M. and have found a lot of
nuggets with it. It is simple to use and I can find coins and relics with
it also. It is not a $3000 minelab but it works for me. Some of the dirt in
AZ.is too hot for this detector but it is allright for the soil down here
in N.M. For the price it is the way to go.

Garrett needs to upgrade this one.

Owned this detector for a year and detected all over the Rocky Mountains
with it.It may have been a great detector years ago when
it first came out, but it's below the standards of
today's detectors. My Garrett Ace 250 works better as a gold detector than the Scorpion.
