I have enjoyed my qxt. It is like anything elese. You need to get use to it in order for it to work in your favor. I live in Colorado and have found several different coins with it. I plan on taking it out to the mountains to hunt for gold. I enjoy it.

Qxt pro and quantum xt

August 15, 2006
I've had the Quantum xt and have the QXT pro. both the same machine, these are deep seeking machines, which i use mostly for relic hunting. They take a little bit of time to learn but very capable. deepest coin so far was a nickle at 9", many old square nails [1" long] 12 to 14 in. down. I seem to get alot better depth than my fathers new xlt. I rate this 4.5 stars, would rate it a 5 if it had the VDI scale. awsome machine.

The QXT has been my primary land machine for six years now, and during that period of time I have owned 14 other machines from Fisher, Garrett, Compass, Whites, and Tesoro. I am a very active hunter, and am the Huntmaster for an old Dallas, Texas club.

I have hunted Thousands of hours with the QXT, and have had it in many different types of soil, and can say that it has proven to be a very versatile machine, which is the reason I bought it in the first place. When I submitted this review there were two reviews posted that lambasted this machine. If you read them closely it is easy to see that neither of them took the time to learn the machine.

No complicated metal detector on the market will produce perfect performance without learning it. The QXT is not among the best turn on and go machines out there, and if you are a casual hunter with little patience, I would suggest a different offering.

If on the other hand you are looking for machine that is very adaptable to many different situations the QXT can almost do it all, no machine is perfect, but I have had it in the field against every high-end machine that I know of, and I own a Fisher CZ-20.

Now for five things that I really like in a machine that few others offer, Target Sizing (Histograph) on the fly, on off Tone ID for any and all target zones, Mixed Mode (simultaneous all metal and discriminate), SAT Speed (adjust threshold recovery speed), and at least a dozen different coils that will work on it. Major bang for the buck.

Great machine but you have to put the time in to learn it like all good metal detectors. Impressive depth and discrimination abilities. This machine like all Whites machine will talk to you while your hunting. This is actually a good thing.

More information coming in gives the operator the chance to decide and learn what is a good target and which ones are borderline ones like some good relics. Easy to use and dead on the depth and pinpointing. Put the time in and you will not be dissapointed.

Agree with previous review. Unstable ID at the higher sensitivity settings neccessary to achieve even average depths. The busy audio and poor ID will drive you nuts.

Some relic hunters say it is deep and I won't argue with that but you can't use this thing in trash for coin hunting. It will drive you nuts (did I say that already? LOL).

Probably OK for field hunting where targets are few and far between where masking is not a problem. Didn't keep it long enough to see how it handled old iron infested sites.

The QXT actually has a lot of neat features built into the menu options. It's too bad really...a good idea but poorly done.
