I love my 3030
Steve in Myrtle Beach, SC -
I purchased my 3030 detector from ebay and I could not be more pleased. I have a (now non-working) White XLT detector that I have gone over my field many times with. Low and behold when I went back over it with my new 3030 I turned up tons of old coins and even a civil war metal. For the price, $200, you can't beat this detector.

Treasure Hunter 3030 is great
John Wayland in Scottsdale, AZ -
I bought this detector for my son so we could go detecting together. Paid $200 on ebay, and I noticed he was getting more finds than me!! I tried it out and sure enough it detects deeper with better discrimination. My detector is a Whites Classic 5 ID but I really prefer the 3030 detector.

I had a minelab explorer, it got stolen, and I bought a Treasure Hunter 3030, and went over where days before I used my minelab and bam, coins, and even a war medal, I am 100% satisfied with this in both quality and price.

I bought my 3030 at around $180. If you shop around you can get it for a lot cheaper. I was expecting a much better product. It really does not go that deep. I will say about 15 inches max. It is true that the coin discriminator confuses all kinds of metal. I'm new to this hobby, But, live and learn.

Very happy
Freedom420 in Cave Junction, OR. -
I purchased this same model(ebay)I think from looking at pictures. Although my manual has 3010/GC-1010 metal Detector on the front cover. As far as i can tell this is the same unit. Pictures are identical as the one i have.
Anyway this is my 1st detector, and i have to say i'm very happy. I have found a 50 cent piece, a couple of quaters, a few dims, a nickel or two, and a fist full of pennies within hours of 1st using it.
I'm happy with it. My wife bought it for under $160.00 including shipping. I may have been able to pick up cheaper with so more time to research.
Hope you enjoy yours!

There are several seller sof these detectors - trick is finding the cheapest. I bought one from Maplins and found it was useful up to a depth of 5" which considering on some fields coins are found 4-6" which means you will find something.. Maplins do better models around £100 which will go deeper - 8-10".
Its okay for experienced detectorists to slate cheaper machines, but if your only a beginer you probably get better value for money on one of these than bottom range well known brands - not everyone has £600 to spend. There is a fair amount of snobery involved with detecting especially where machines are concerned.

Treasure Hunter 3030 Trash or Treasure?
Blaze312 in MI, USA -
For anyone looking at purchasing this metal detector I ask you to consider your options. I purchased this metal detector from eBay for $200. My initial reaction was, "I got scammed". Actually I'm still not sure that I didn't. The street price for the detector is not $695. DO NOT let the treasure hunter web site fool you. This detector is a cheap overseas import(maplin) that has been re-branded. The street value is no more then $200, probably closer to $100. Althought this detector does indeed detect metal, you have very little idea what it is your digging up until you actually dig it up. Sometimes coins show up as trash, and sometimes trash shows up as coins. I would suggest another brand, unless you can get this one for cheap.

I purchased this item on ebay and advise anyone over 6yrs thinking of buying one not to, it is nothing more than a cheap toy, due to the advert i believed i was getting a quality product and paid above what its worth, am bitterly disapointed and will be going to trading standards if i dont get a refund.
I would like to say O star but have no choice.

EXCELENT value for money...
Jimbob in England -
You can pay a premium for the features you get with the 3030. And it REALLY works. It's ideal as a first detector, since it's a motion type (so no ground balance) etc. Computer controlled, only has one knob for volume (hate knobs personally as they always end up 'crakeling' and has been the demise of all my previous detectors). Clear display even tells you how deep to dig. I got mine from Maplins (on special for £49 i think) and for that money it really is a steal. Don't be fooled by the fools who'll pay lots (£600+) for a brand name, but probably less features. Ulimately like DVD players and everything else, China makes a cheap (and sometimes good) clone of the same circuitry in most of these expensive western made products. So please stop with the, 'poor value' 'low quality' comments, they don't apply to this particular product. It's cheap, it works. So it's EXCELENT value.
