		Minelab Xterra 305 - A new passion
January 26, 2010

I got my Xterra 305 in Dec 09. I had not previously owned a detector, but
suspected that I would enjoy detecting with my 8 yo son. I was blown away
just how much money we found in his school, including pre-decimal coins
from the 20's to 60's. Subsequent locations have yielded 3 rings...no b/s.
We're now over $120, and I couldn't be happier with it. Readings and
pinpointing are very accurate. Next camping trip I will try for gold nuggets, but from what I read on the Minelab site, you need the 705? I don't understand why because the applicable 18KHz coil goes on the 305 as well? I'd be very interested if anyone has found nuggets with the 305 or knows the answer definatively. I suspect that the 305 would go as deep as they both use 4-AA batteries and the same 'V-flex' technology?

This is a great Detector for the money

At the moment for 399.00 this is pretty much the best detector you can
find. Its has great depth is pretty acurate and is very versatile. Can be
used on beach and parks with no problem. Stock 7.5klhz coil is very good so
is the 18.75klhz. It has manual ground balance interfeerence elimination 2
preset modes and all metal mode. Cant go wrong with the new Xterra 305.
