I have owned a garrets 2500, Garrett 1500, Whites XLT, Whites MXT(which is
a very good machine), Tesoro deleon, and of all of these detectors I like
the cz-5 the best for all around depth and use. I sold all my other
detectors and have kept this one. It was deeper than my whites
MXT.I hunt with no discrimination and let the detector tell me when it is iron in the ground. I have not tried the new digital cz's, so I cannot tell you about them. It is a very good machine and a deep one. I know it will go down 3 feet on a large object, say 10 inches on a freshly burried item. It took me a long time to write this, because I know everyone will want one, but if a new comer reads this I want him to know the truth. The fisher cz-5 is a no mistake machine, you will never regret it, I promise.

Had my CZ5 for 10 years now, luv it to bits, great depth super sensitive to
small hammered and roman coins. Knocks spots off my old C-scope. Looking to
get 12.5 sunray coil in near future should be the mutts nutts

The best so far
December 27, 2005
I have used compass, whites, garretts, and fisher...so far the cz-5 is the
best..it will give you faint too strong audio signals, which lets you tell
just by sound when the target is deeper, like older coins...strong blasting
signals are usually the more modern coins...this detector does it
all..beach.relic. and coins...I have used it in all metal mode and have
found bb's in the sand...it is real sensitive.

Haven't yet found a better machine...

Hi Diggers,Been diggin since I was in my early teens. (I'm 20)
Have used a:
Radioshack
Bounty hunter QDII
Whites IDX Pro
Tesoro Tejon
CZ 5
I love the multitones on my CZ. The depth is phenomenal. Believe it or not, it beats the Tejon for depth in my soil. (Maryland) It's about equal to it in the all metal, but as soon as you switch to DISC preset 1 or 2 on the CZ, you retain your depth, where it will drop off with the Tejon. That is a spectacular and quite unique feature.
It's ridiculously easy to pinpoint. Batteries are long lasting and cheap. Easy Easy Easy to ground balance. Coins/Relic/Jewelry... Very versatile machine. Hipmountable. Doesn't get much better.
Just my two cents.. (1877 and 1909S..)

PS Don't buy a radioshack unless you lost your license plate.

Best coin machine on the planet
February 26, 2005
I've been using the CZ5 now for about a year. It is the best coin machine
bar none. It consistantly out performs the Coinstrike & CZ70pro. Its truely
a nickel magnet. Its ashame that they replaced this unit with the CZ3d
after all these years. I think it was a big mistake, but mistakes are made
all the time with the intent to improve something that doesn't need
improving.

I think the cz5 is one of the best detecters out
there. I have bought and tried so many new models that come out and always
end up selling them and
going back to my good old cz5. I put mine on a strap and put it over my
shoulder, I don't think it is heavy
at all that way, and I have a bad back. I see someone up above said it was
heavy, I never heard that
before from anyone. If a guy don't hip or chest or shoulder mount it might
be a little heavy, for use older
guys anyway. All around it is a great detecter, the only complaint I would have is it does like nails, until a guy gets good and used to it, that might be the main thing to grip about. But it depends where you hunt and also like I said, after you get used to it a guy can pretty much tell if it is a nail or not.
It is a real good Nickel finder, maybe the best I have ever used. All and all I would say the meter is about 90% correct, which is pretty good considering all the hundreds if not thousands of different items out there we pick up on the ground. This is just my own opinion of this detector after using it and always goning back to it.
I would like to rate it at 4 and a half stars because of the nails it likes in certain spots but there is no 4 and a half up there.
Happy Hunting all you Fisher user's.

Great detector, but bad for my back... I find so
many many coins, I can barely get straightened out before I get another
signal! But seriously, it's a great
machine, and at least 90% accurate on target ID after you've spent a little
time with it. Short learning
curve, also. Highly recommended for a first detector. Overall Rating
