Great detector at a great price
May 19, 2005
I've used it for a few years and found a lot of coins with it. I usually
run it with the disc. turned all the way down and just listen to the tones.
Low tone = iron/gold range , medium tone = pulltab zinc penny , High tone
= silver/copper. A good repeatable high tone usually means you have a good
target. A couple of things I would like to change is ; lack of depth -
usually only good to 5 or 6 inches , it's harder to pinpoint a low tone
signal. It's very easy to learn and a great deal for a beginner.

This is a pretty good detector for its price and value. I went to a
historical town near Monterrey, Mexico and found three real gold coins and
relics, now I have money to buy an expensive metal detector but i won't
because its only money wasted, i prefer keeping my land star metal detector
for its precision and accuracy at the time of finding coins and relics.
Thanks Bounty Hunter for making inexpensive and exellent metal detectors.

This is the 2nd BH that I have
owned. I too use it in disc mode and find alot more tgts than what I did
before. It is fairly easy to learn and
detects fairly deep, up to 10 inches in some cases. I am extremely pleased

I used my Landstar for a little more
than a year, and it's a very good coinshooting detector. I didn't use the
notch or autonotch features
much, but detected in regular discriminate mode. The ground balancing feature is a little different than, say, the Tesoro ground balance, but it does work.
The 3 tones make finding nickles easier, and I found much more nickels with my Landstar than my Tesoro Bandido II, which is my current detector.
All in all, this is a very good detector, especially with the 4" coil.
I very much wish that BH would make more coils for their detectors, like ovals or widescans. Depth is the same for my Landstar as it was for the Tracker IV (or both of my Tesoros, for that matter)
