Some people have to have tone ID but
I'm not one of them. If you looking for a detector that just plain works
and works well, this "old tech"
machine is the one! A heck of a lot easier to use and set up than the XLT
and performs as well if not
BETTER. Get a small coil for the trashy areas and it does OK, but not as good as a 2 filter unit. However, for 90% of users it is all you will EVER need.

XLT or XL PRO If you want to know how
to use a metal detector get the XL PRO. I was using the 5900 di pro and I upgraded to the XL PRO CHECK OUT www.firstontop.com click on the 5900 to see why I love the XL PRO.It has a 10 star detector to me.

I have had and used my XLpro for 6mths
now.I think the unit is pretty easy to use if one reads the manual. Ground
bal. is easy and signal strength
can be run fairly high, at least here in central Fla. Disc. circut is
accurate and so is the ID. circut. Not so
sure about the depth indicator though.I just may have never found any thing
very deep yet. If mine says a
dime at 6in. its usually a dime at around 2or 3 in. All-in-all, the XLpro is a very durable and accurate machine that weighs about 5lbs. I find the batt. life is better than reported by most articals. aprox 30hrs.I recomend this machine for any general MD.ing.

An excellent machine once you
purchased all the various size coils, you can seach anywhere especially
dump and trash piles....Good
"hot rock" reject and easy ground balancing...NOT as deep retriever as
others on the market, and battery
life is shorter than the digital machines....Changing coils is somewhat
cumbersome...Sweetest return
response of any other detector I own, and I have 11 different manufacturers
models... You know, when
you hear something good, that it will generally be something good. Overall Rating

I personally like my Pro XL more then I do
my XLT. Here is why: The needle on the display responds to the target alot
faster then the digital
numbers on the XLT. And in my opinion the meter is more accurate than the
XLT's LCD. The turn knobs are much more convenient to adjust(BIG Plus!) and the depth is exceptional.
The only complaint I have is that the knobs are not very tight, and sometimes they turned by themselves when I would swing the detector. I had to put rubberbands around them to stop them from turning so easy. Great detector for a beginner or pro! Found many good finds with it.

Whites was the first top notch detector I
ever owned. Lots of great finds and fun. Bought my first 6000 in 1985.
Bought another in 1999. It is a
great detector just abit out dated. Overall Rating
