Grossly Overhyped
I loaned to a friend, also a professional, telling him I had never used it. He reported back saying "this thing has more false alarms than chicken little". My only salvation lies in the fact I am only out $212.00 as my friend deposited it in a local lake. The only reason I gave it one star is because I could not submit the review with no star's.

Great starter Detector for beginners...
I gave this 4 stars and not 5 because I haven't used it outdoors yet, but I'm confident I will soon be giving it the fifth star once I try it out in nature.
To try it out indoors, I placed several metal items, including several US coins, as well as a gold and a silver American Eagle under several books, then under several stacks of news papers and magazines...the Ace 250 did a nice job at pin-pointing each individual coin.
I'm looking forward to visiting historic forts and battlefields and trying this nice detector out. I live in a historic Colonial town which was founded in the 1600's, where Indian tribes were abundant and where the British attacked and burned our town in the late 1700's.
Countless artifacts have been found over the years by towns-people and construction crews, I hope to find the next priceless artifacts with my new Garrett.

I am surprised
I only found rusty old nails, and for 4 hours all I got was nails. I was frustrated but I didn't give up hope, next thing I did was went over to my aunts where I previously found 2 wheats with my 202 and all I got was confusing beeps and weird signals. I went home empty handed.
Throughout I think 3 weeks I have gotten so used to it that I can tell what is garbage and what is good, but I still dig everything. Today I went over to my aunts house again after some experience and I have never been so excited from metal detecting. I pick up a couple junk items but then I get a very iffy signal and dig it and MAN O MAN I get my very first mercury dime, 1944. I also found 4 very deep wheaties, probably around 7 or 8 inches. With the bounty hunter I got up to 4, and rarely ever the 6 inch mark. So I can tell you that you will not be disappointed, I have found 4 silver items and 1 gold pendant. I am very very happy I got it.

Garret Ace 250 Buy It
For the price it a good all around detector. It took a good week to learn the detector to its full potential. I have mostly done old parks, lawns and yards "over 100 coins in one lawn" and a few new england cellor holes. The old cellor holes are tricky because of all the metal in the ground, so i used the smaller coil. It does go pretty deep for the price, found coins around 8"+
I'm thinking about buying another detector and keep the ace as a back up, I just hope whatever I buy out preforms the ace, I don't want to be dissapointed in spening $600 on a detector and have the ace outpreform it.

Ace 250 creams all OF YOUR BIG DOLLAR DETECTORS
So it seems a lot of the bad mouthing this great detector comes from the people who spent 3 or 5 times more are theirs and are miserable they spent too much, and found nothing to pay for their expensive detector. So believe what you want! My detector was free and I made $106.00 off it too! So go ahead spend your money and buy the so called Expensive detectors but keep in mind! Was your'for free? And yes maybe I was lucky but I am still finding more rings charms pedants.
And if you did spend a lot on your detector then you should learn how to use it and made back what you spent. And the pin point on this works, but I don't need it if I can see whats on the segment bar simple is better then complicated. And also I'm not putting down the brands I mention I just said if you spent that much on one of those expensive ones I hope what you spent paid for it have a great day and watch out for power lines? REMEBER MOST OF THE GREAT FINDS ARE IN PARKS RIGHT IN YOUR NEIGHBOR HOOD.

Garret Ace 250
I have used it on the beach in woods and on open fields without any problems. I have made some great finds as well. I would start of by using the "all metal" option on the ace untill you get familiar with the other options. I find the "pin point" option to be a god send, it saves you digging big trenches for the sake of a small item. I just cant wait to get back out there. Good look to all and happy diggings.
