Disappointed in AT PRO

May 28, 2011
Like lots of others, I fell for the hype on the AT PRO and bought one. After opening the box and seeing how cheap it looked I knew should have bought something better built for the price like a Tesoro.
After using it in PRO mode for a couple days and listening to all the noise it made I decided to sell it the next day and buy a Tesoro Vaquero. Best decision I ever made. The Tesoro is much quieter and deeper than the garrett and has a lifetime warranty compared to 2 years for the garrett.

Your bad reviews are set up! This is a great detector!

May 28, 2011
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see your obviously posting bad reviews and just posted them because you bought a bad machine. I see four in a roll and even the simple minded can see the odds of that. And if you have a Garrett warrenty then send it in eventually Garrett will send you a brand new one.

Tesoros are great but have just as many duds and cheap battery holders and I've had coil issues with them too. No metal detector or manufacture of metal detectors has a spotless record.
I've owned them all and I really like the AT Pro and it stands up with many of the higher end machines at about half the price and the learning curve isn't a brain blister like the others are. And I like the depth and features it has well, all in all it's a nice machine for the money. I haven't submerged mine and have no intention too.
But it's good to know I can if I choose to and that's a plus. I give it 4 stars because like I wrote before, no detector is perfect.

Typical garrett quality......junk.

May 25, 2011
I'm sure after using an ace 250 the at pro must seem to be the wonder machine all the users are bragging about.
Garrett robbed technology from other companies that developed it years ago for the at pro. Garretts quality control must be in sorry shape to have so many problems that seem to constantly develop with this detector. So what happens after the warranty runs out and you have all these problems with leaking and the detector just going nuts? Yep,you will be paying for it to be fixed.

I tried Garrett detectors years ago and they were only good for digging shallow clad coins just under the grass, so they were sold.
I see lots of used at pro's for sale now, so maybe the people who bought them are seeing it is nothing but an overpriced ace 250 with a ton of problems.

Yep, I have nothing good to say about the at pro or Garrett in general from prior use....they just lack performance and weigh a ton. Buy a nice used fisher cz for half the money of an at pro and then you will have a real detector with no problems that will kick the at pros a** in depth and finds easily.

Not happy

May 25, 2011
I got the at pro to replace my ace 250 and found it to be not any better now, so next got a fisher f5 and found it to be a much better machine then the at pro, dont waste your money on the at pro, just save your money and buy a minelab or a fisher high end detector if your looking for a good detector.

Only good thing I can say about the at pro is its water proof and has good depth but it just don't have good disc at all.

Holds its own.

Hello all,
My name is Chad K. I bought this machine about 6mths ago. This is my first machine and could not be more pleased.
It took me a while to learn what the machine was saying in pro mode, but well worth the all the practice. I love the pro mode audio. The bottle tops are easy to hear so no digging those things. I have found lots of silver in the same hole as iron. Not a problem for this machine.

The depth on dry land is very nice. I was amazed at how deep this machine can go. The pin pointing is very easy with this coil. I also do alot of salt water hunting with this machine. The AT Pro has done very well. The machine after a ground balance is very stable. I have found deep rings and lots of clad with this machine.

The battery life is very good. I get alot of long hunts out of them. If your thinking of a good machine at a good price point this is it. My machine has paid for itself 3x. This machine really is a joy once you learn the pro mode.

Last but not least the customer service at Garrett is A++. My machine ran into an issue, and the awesome staff at Garrett handled the issue, and had my machine back within a week. How many companies do that? I could just go on and on about this machine, but I wont.

Excellent coin and relic detector!

May 04, 2011
HAHA some of the reviews are funny and some are right on track lol for me this new and improved Garrett is awesome and we all know it will find coins and relics. Over the years I have spent lots of money and time on other makes and models yes including Garrett but now I have the best all around detector made the "AT-PRO" so now I can stop wasting time and find all the good deep targets that are smothered in iron ladden areas lol

P.S. if you want too waist valuable time then don't get a AT-PRO if you want the best turn on and go detector then I say get one!!!!

Very Pleased

If you are like myself you are reading reviews to determine if this is the detector for you or not..
Let me first say I have purchased a total of 5 detectors in my past. The F75, F70, Minelab Safari, Ace 250, and now the AT PRO.
I sold both Fishers and the Minelab on ebay shortly after I purchased them. They are arguably the best detectors in the world I am not putting them down, I sold them simply because I did not have the patience or the time to learn their language.

As seldom as I go detecting I wanted a Turn on and Go machine. The Ace 250 was perfect for this, I was very happy with its performance and figured I would give Garrett another try being that I failed miserably with the leaning curve of the Fishers and the Minelab.

On the first day within minutes of turning on my AT Pro I was truly amazed at its depth and ease of use. I have finally ended my quest for what I consider the perfect machine. I figured if it was as difficult to learn as the other machines I would at least have the option to operate it in "Standard Mode".
I am very pleased to report that this was not the case at all. I was running this machine in "pro mode" on the first day. The sounds and settings were smooth as silk and not nearly as confusing as the Fishers. I tested it at the beach and it performed flawlessly.
Furthermore, I have NOT experienced ANY ghost signals or falseing. I could not be happier, this machine far exceeded my expectations with ease of use and depth.

If you are looking for a very deep machine that is simple to learn you will not be disappointed..

AT PRO is an excellent choice

April 03, 2011
I recently purchased the Garrett AT Pro. I was using an ACE 250 prior to that. The AT Pro is a little bit heavier because of the larger coil.

There is a big difference in pin pointing with the double D coil. Once you get used to the difference in pinpointing between the two machines look out. The depth with the AT pro is better by 4 inches. It does a very good job in discriminating between foil and a nickel. It will take a little time to learn the Pro mode. It is very different.

The head phones that come with the AT Pro are very good. With the 15mhz I was able to find a gold ear ring. I purposely went to a school that I hunted hard twice in the past and found over 7 dollars in quarters that was 8 inches deep. They were all clad. I feel that there is a little learning curve with the AT PRO but once you work with it a few times you will be extremely satisfied.

AT IS A PRO

March 23, 2011
Humm! so you say the at pro is not as good as it advertised? Well your wrong and probably jealous because you spent over $800 for your hype of detector. See here I'm not going to use a name detector and knock them. But for the price I paid which was $470.00 well I guess it's not a lot why well already found a 18kt sold gold ring and it's on ebay being sold and the bid so far is $300.00 with 2 days and 8 hours to go so this almost pays for it.

Ooh and I found a Ludens cough drop tin well what could he possibly found well put it this way I must of search this freaking area over and over and found nothing with another detector I have and its a loser detector. Again not saying what the name is.

So what did I find? humm just an old gold brooch 18kt, it weight was nice 11.3 gram's 1 silver dollar 1880 scratched all over a couple of sewing needles, and a 10kt pin not heavy about 2 gram's thats it. And so it paid for my metal detector. Please understand technology is getting better and thats life so why not grow with it and stay happy. And if your detector is finding finds like this great, may all the wealth come your way.

Just one more note all the time I wasted in the park's and the shore's and reading about this treasure is here their. They were right its just that my old detector sucked and I made me want to smash it a thousand times hey I have to calm down now?

I forgot I finding finds now and more relaxed too.. to all of you have a great day and be very careful digging in the park's a lot of drug needles and some times razor blades be very careful.

At pro is a pros detector

March 21, 2011
The at pro is a great machine for what its designed to do and thats finding good targets in iron infested sites, I've owned over 30 detectors in the last 10 years, minelabs, fishers, tesoros, whites and can honestly say the at pro is a keeper. It will join my stable of minelabs and tesoros. Garretts on the right track with this one.
